?Life on the presidential campaign trail is, in a word, stressful. After weeks of kissing babies' heads, shaking hands and staying one step ahead of the opponent, it's no wonder that both candidates have some favored vacation spots.
As Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama's campaigning undoubtedly gets more hectic, we're taking a look at the places the candidates head to for an escape.
Mitt Romney
Wolfeboro, N.H.
When the Republican candidate wanted to get away this summer, he headed north to New Hampshire, where he has long held a family compound on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro?(see photo above). Coined the "oldest resort town in America," Wolfeboro has a small population of 6,269. It's here that Romney owns a 13-acre estate that has a $630,000 boathouse, tennis and volleyball courts and a shoreline stretching 768 feet. According to property records, Mitt and Ann Romney purchased the home for about $3 million in 1997.
The main house is 5,400 square feet, and other guest homes provide housing for Romney's five sons and 18 grandchildren.
Park City, Utah

The Romneys previously owned a Park City, Utah, vacation home, which they sold in 2009 for a little under the $5.25 million asking price. More chalet than cabin, Romney's former seven-bedroom, 9.5-bath home sits at the end of a cul-de-sac on nearly 11 acres and measures 9,514 square feet. A premier destination for snow sports enthusiasts, Park City real estate doesn't come cheap; the median list price currently sits at $699,000.
Barack Obama
The president only owns one home, but following most of his predecessors, each summer he heads to the "Summer White House." His vacation spots of choice? Hawaii, his birth state, and Martha's Vineyard.

Obama prefers the white sand beaches of Hawaii over the white slopes of Utah. For the first few years of his presidency, he and his family stayed at the Paradise Point Estate on Kailua Bay on Oahu. Described as a "lavish oceanfront estate fully appointed with exquisite amenities," the home is available for rent year-round. However, when the Obamas made the trek to Hawaii in December 2011, the estate was booked, so they rented a private home, just five houses down.
There aren't any hotels in Kailua, and the rental home they chose was easily cordoned off by the Secret Service, allowing the first family to romp on the beach as they pleased.
Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

Obama is not the only president to spend time in the Vineyard; according to Martha's Vineyard magazine, John Adams, Ulysses S. Grant, Chester Arthur, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton are just a few of the nation's leaders who spent time at this prestigious vacation destination.
Obama and his family rented a Cape Cod-style six-bedroom home in the small town of Chilmark. A guest house on the property undoubtedly provided boarding for the Secret Service and other personnel. The home was recently available as a seasonal rental for $9,000 a month.
